If he gets a turn, he heals, so damage him quickly while your archer is in position. Then give anything with +str or x%dmg to those melee characters so they can get critical hits (with the exception of the final battle, where Alette and Oddleif will want +str items).įinal Battle: During the first section of this fight, you will need to get your archer into position to use the "Silver Arrow" on him (it becomes their special ability), which requires a bit of his armor to be depleted. Items: I found it best to give any items with "armor break" to my archers, as they could stay out of damage and weaken the shields so that my Varl or other melee characters could dish out damage more quickly. Mogr might have been a better option for one of the slots. I used Hakon and Gunnulf, and they don't really even have the best armor stats. Then you'll want two very strong Varl to tank for all these archers. As described below, I found Yrsa and Oddleif indispensable for the final battle. They are also great characters to use for armor damage, sniping from afar. Then go for strength, as this increases damage output, which will actually harm the enemies.Ĭharacters: Alette and Rook will be required for the final battle of the game, so leveling them is a good idea. Being able to do more damage to armor, and using exertion to increase that damage, is very important. Most of the enemies in the game have high armor and can't really be damaged until you weaken that. Stats: Focus on Armor Break and Exertion first. Note: If you are viewing this guide on the front side of XBA, I have re-ordered it on the forums in the order you will unlock most of the achievements, so viewing it from here may help you. Overall the game is not too hard to complete (although the final battle can be quite troublesome, especially on Hard), and it is an extremely beautiful game with a great battle system and story. I suggest a minimum of three full playthroughs to get all the achievements (possibly even four, as " Warmonger" would be much less difficult on Easy but can't be done at the same time as the other two achievements done on Easy). It is the first of a planned trilogy, and available on the Xbox Store for $19.99. The Banner Saga is an SRPG (strategic role-playing game) where you take control of a band of humans and Varl (giants) on an epic viking journey, with combat similar to Shining Force using a turn- and grid-based combat scheme. Does difficulty affect achievements: Yes
